Video game developer Bethesda surprised everyone this week when they slyly announced a new Indiana Jones title. Bethesda revealed the news via a teaser trailer on their Twitter account.

While details regarding the plot and release date are scarce, Bethesda did send a follow-up tweet revealing the games executive producer, Todd Howard.

“A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, MachineGames, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games,” Bethesda wrote in the tweet. “It’ll be some time before we have more to reveal, but we’re very excited to share today’s news!”

MachineGames are responsible for the rebooted Wolfenstein franchise while Howard is behind The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series. The recently announced Lucasfilm Games will also be involved, so my hopes are high this game will be a cracker. That said, when you look back on previous Indian Jones games, the bar isn’t high.

The only downside for gamers is the possibility of this title being an Xbox exclusive. Microsoft recently acquired Bethesda parent company Zenimax, meaning they now own all studios associated with the company, including MachineGames. Fingers crossed Microsoft don’t get greedy and allow everyone the chance to play this game.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on any news surrounding the game when it comes to hand.
