Bowmore is releasing its first single malt 30 year old single malt expression as part of the Art of Time campaign.  Distilled in 1989, the whisky has matured for three decades in Sherry hogsheads and Bourbon barrels, and bottled at a cask strength of 45.3% ABV.

On the nose the whisky brings notes of heather, bananas, peaches, pineapple, vanilla and butterscotch. The palate offers tropical fruits and honey sweetness, along with subtle peat smoke and hints of eucalyptus.  “By adding an ongoing 30-year-old Bowmore to the portfolio, we are able to showcase how vital time spent in cask shapes and influences our spirit, making it even more exceptional and characterful,” said Bowmore Distillery Manager David Turner last month.  Image: https://www.edrington-beamsuntoryuk.com/news/bowmore-30-year-old/ “Each annual release will tell the rich stories of Bowmore, but importantly each will have their own unique style and character. As for this release, this is another perfect example of classic Bowmore but with boundless depth and intrigue reflecting the long-standing interaction of spirit and wood.”  Launched earlier this year, the Bowmore Art of Time global campaign introduces a new color palette and visual feel, inspired by both Islay’s varied and diverse coastal landscape and the whisky itself.

The packaging for the Bowmore 30 year limited edition release of 2,580 bottles takes inspiration from the terrain that surrounds the Islay distillery, with cues from markings on driftwood and whisky casks to the refined polish of seaglass.  Bowmore 30 Year Old will be available across all key markets for a recommended retail price of $1,850 USD . Each year Bowmore will release a new 30 year old limited-edition expression.  Keep an eye out online for sales of the new release, which is soon to be available.
