Directed by Academy Award winner Chloé Zhao (Nomadland), the film centers on a group of immortal beings who have been living on earth for centuries. When disaster strikes, these humanoids with superpowers are forced out into the open to help humanity.
The trailer shows the Eternals arriving by spaceship and using their powers to help the local civilization. “We have watched and guided. We have helped them progress and seen them accomplish wonders,” Salma Hayek’s Ajak says in the trailer. “Throughout the years, we have never interfered – until now.” The official plot for Eternals has yet to be released, so the reason for revealing themselves hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s believed to have something to do with the Deviants, the Eternals’ greatest foe. Set after the events of Avengers: End Game, this looks like being another fantastic effort from Marvel. Not only does it have a top-notch director in Zhao, but the cast is incredible. Hayek is joined by Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, and Jon Snow himself, Kit Harrington.
