Arnold Schwarzenegger might have helped make Hummer’s popular in the mid-90s, but even he would be envious of this creation. Michigan-based auto company Mil-Spec has gone above and beyond in their restoration of this Hummer M1-R model. Following up last year’s incredible transformation of a Hummer H1 into a rough and tumble monster Batman would be proud of, this new build is somehow even more impressive. Commissioned by a private client, Mil-Spec spent thousands of hours turning this M1-R into a beautiful yellow beast.
“Our goal with the new M1 Series is to present a truly elite classically styled H1 made for modern-day driving,” said Mil-Spec Automotive co-founder Ian Broekman. “Growing up in Detroit, the H1 made such a huge impression on us all as young auto enthusiasts, and our company founders saw a lot of potential in improving vintage Hummers with modern performance and comfort… The new M1 series takes the feedback given from our clients and elevates everything up to the next level. The new M1-R has this fantastic retro H1 aesthetic that simultaneously incorporates all these other amazing elements to create a remarkable vehicle that stands all on its own.” The standard engine was given the once over and now pulsates a whooping 800 HP and 1,200 lb-ft of torque. A Rod Hall long travel racing suspension, six-piston brakes, 21” military wheels, and an air locking differential were all added to help this beauty traverse off-road without any qualms.
The Hummer is finished in a delightful “Competition Yellow” paint job seen on many early versions of this behemoth. New York-based atelier Relicate were enlisted to craft the interior using their famous Nappa leather. All the plastic fittings inside the truck have been replaced with metal elements and the middle console includes cup holders and a multitude of charging stations, so you’re phone will never go flat. Other key features include an electronic gear selector, electronic parking brake, and a JL Audio sound system. This one-off Hummer M1-R is costing its owner a fair wedge, with the final price coming in at $412,000. Check out more of Mil-Spec’s incredible work at milspecauto.com.
