When it comes to Japanese whisky it’s hard to go past Suntory. One of the oldest distillers in Japan is renowned for delivering high-quality alcohol and has been at the top of the whisky game for many years. Always looking to experiment, the company’s latest tipple, Blossom Harmony, is a one of a kind whisky blend aged in sakura wood barrels.
This might not sound overly spectacular, but it’s the first time Suntory has blended Hibiki Whisky with sakura wood barrels, resulting in the spirit having an aroma of cherry blossoms. This process has become widely popular over recent years, but it’s the first time Suntory have tried this method.
The whisky is said to have “harmonious flavors and a lingering yet refreshing finish.” In other words, it’s another delicious offering from Suntory.
As is tradition with recent Suntory releases, this limited-edition whisky features eye-catching packaging. The metallic red “Blossom Harmony” branding with floral patterns throughout the paper box gives the whisky a cultivated look. The new Hibiki is also bottled at 43% ABV, so you’ll want to go easy when tackling a bottle.
Blossom Harmony is set to go on sale in Japan on May 25 for 8,000 yen ($77 USD) per 700ml bottle. Expect a global release soon after.
